Closer Look At The 2016 '68 Shelby GT-500 OH5 Wheel Variation

A few days ago we reported a wheel variation on the Target exclusive snowflake card '68 Shelby GT-500. Well luckily HW Stangs was able to get a closer look at the variation and get a hands on look at the car. Let me tell you, this variation is a very tough one to spot, and you have to know your different kind of wheels to exactly know what your looking at. I really think some of these will get overlooked and there could end up being some steals on this variation in the future. Overall the OH5's look very good on this Shelby but it's very hard to tell they are OH5's without being able to see the car from a normal viewing distance. Here are some pictures to show you what I mean.

Here is a shot that I would say is a normal viewing aspect of the car. Now OH5 wheels mean they are open hole 5 spokes but from this picture, it's very hard to see the open hole in the wheels.

Now here is a high resolution, close up of the car. You can see the wheels but really can't tell that they are OH5's

Now here is a shot that will for sure throw you for a loop. The hard to find OH5 variation on top, and the normal common wheels, the MC5's, on the bottom. Now you can clearly see how hard this variation is going to be to spot. Again, for anyone that collects this casting, keep an eye out on eBay. Someone may not realize they have this variation and list it as a normal MC5 variation.

I hope this article helps clear up some confusion on this variation, as I am sure it will raise some questions. Also I am working on a Hot Wheels wheel guide to post on the site. At this time I'd like to give a big shout out to Robert Graves over on South Texas Diecast. He's letting me use pictures from his site on here. If you haven't checked out his site, it's for sure worth checking out.
