HW's 2005-2014 Mustangs castings; an identification primer:

The similarities of several of the Hot Wheels Mustang castings (2007-2012, especially) can make ID'ing them confusing, even for Mattel (as evidenced by the intermixing of bodies, bases & interiors in some mainline issues).
In an attempt to keep them straight I developed a primer on the differences in the castings.
001 - (2005) Ford Mustang GT Concept (mainline) - has partially painted transparent roof, later has police light bar added, 2005-
002 - (2005) Mustang GT Concept fastback (Adult Collectible) - has partially painted transparent roof, 2004 only?
003 - (2005) Mustang GT Concept convert. (Adult Collectible), 2004 only?
004 - (2005) Ford Mustang GT (Realistix) - 2005 body with SOLID roof, C-side windows, PLAIN hood, 2005-
005 - 2007 Shelby GT-500 (2008 New Model) - has C-side windows, small rear spoiler, NO mirrors, 2 cast hood vents near the front, solid metal front end, base says: "Mattel L9915" -OR- "07 Shelby GT500", 2008-
006 - (Custom) '07 Ford Mustang (2008 Modern Classics, a few 5-packs, mainline) - has C-side roof scoops (instead of windows), slightly larger rear spoiler, NO mirrors, rearward bulged hood, open grill and oil cooler areas, base: "07 Ford Mustang", 2008-
007 - 2010 Ford Mustang GT (2009 New Models) - looks a LOT like the '07 Shelby GT-500, has C-side windows, tiny rear spoiler, NO mirrors, slight hood bulge but NO hood vents, cast metal grill but base forms lower front end, base: "2010 Ford Mustang GT" -OR- "N4047", 2009-
008 - 2010 Ford Shelby GT-500 (2010 New Models) - similar to '07 Shelby GT-500, has C-side windows, larger rear spoiler, MIRRORS, one LARGE hood vent near front, open grill and oil cooler areas, base: "10 Ford Shelby GT-500", 2010-
009 - 2010 Ford Shelby GT-500 Super Snake (2011 New Models) - has C-side roof scoops (instead of windows), slightly larger rear spoiler, MIRRORS, open grill and oil cooler areas, base forms chin spoiler, forward bulged hood with 2 cast vents near windshield, base: "10 Ford Shelby GT-500 Super Snake", 2011-
010 - 2012 Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca (2012 New Models) - has C-side windows, small rear spoiler, MIRRORS, same slight rearward hood bulge as '10 Mustang GT, base forms LARGE chin spoiler, base: "12 Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca", 2012-
011 - Custom '12 Ford Mustang (Team Hot Wheels: High Speed Wheels, later in mainline) - widebody racer with LARGE rear wing, base: "Custom '12 Ford Mustang", 2012-
012 - '13 Ford Mustang GT (mainline) - stretched & narrow-looking drag racer with upturned chin spoiler, 2013-
013 - 2014 Custom Mustang (Entertainment Series - Need for Speed, later in 5-pack) - wide fender flares, large side scoop, 2 hood scoops, 2014-
[there is also a '10 Ford Mustang F/C (mainline) - very narrow, long, distorted beyond recognition funnycar with body riveted down, the STD website has it hidden under the 2004 casting "Mustang Funnycar", but it's a new casting, 2011-]
